2016

Canopy Lands is formed by Schickedanz West and Tulum Development and Management Corporation.

Five new land assembly projects are launched in greater Calgary, totalling more than 700 acres. New business partnerships are formed on land acquisitions, which range from preliminary design phases to the approval of conceptual schemes. The first projects are anticipated to begin development in 2019.

2012

Schickedanz West purchases two prime commercial lots at the in Sparwood, B.C. for new Hotel and retail complex. Construction begins in 2012 with Hotel completion by late 2013.

2011

Schickedanz West builds new 9,000 sq. ft. flex space building in Royal Vista Business Park in Calgary. Phase 1 – 100% leased. 9,000 sq. ft. Phase 2 starts late 2012.

2008

Schickedanz West builds new 9,000 sq. ft. flex space building in Royal Vista Business Park in Calgary. Phase 1 – 100% leased. 9,000 sq. ft. Phase 2 starts late 2012.

2007

Schickedanz West opens Elk Park Ranch in Radium B.C.

2006

Schickedanz West enters Vancouver Island market developing Seascape in Bowser B.C. and commercial land in Courtney, B.C.

2002

Schickedanz South enters South Carolina market.

1999

Schickedanz West enters Montana market.

1998

Schickedanz West buys former Calgary meat packing plant and converts to Crossroads Market. Since 1979 Schickedanz West has invested in a variety of commercial properties in major and minor centres including hotels, rental accommodations, industrial property, food service, and retail centres.

1997

Schickedanz West enters Fernie, B.C. market developing & owning a diverse portfolio. Schickedanz West enters Radium, B.C. market and begins developing quality recreation properties.

1991

Recognizing the potential of well executed recreational properties Schickedanz West starts developing at Cougar Ridge in Canmore, A.B. Schickedanz West enters Oklahoma marketplace with purchase of three developments.

1981

Schickedanz South enters Tampa Bay market covering both coasts of Florida.

1980

Schickedanz West buys 25 serviced lots from Carma Developments. In 1981 in a major collapsing real estate market Schickedanz West honours their commitment to Carma while most others walk from theirs.

1979

Schickedanz West is established in Calgary. Recognizing the potential in Western Canada, Schickedanz West begins developing home and recreational properties.

1971

Schickedanz Brothers Ltd. moves into South Florida. Although the business continues to grow certain principles always stay firmly the same: true to their original values, they remain conservative and hardworking, implanting in their children and their employees the importance of these values regardless of the company size. When the job is done with the proper precision, the results speak for themselves.

1959

Schickedanz Brothers Ltd. buys first development lands in North York, Ontario. They build 64 homes – selling out in 18-months.

1953

Schickedanz Brothers Ltd. is incorporated. All four brothers have an equal vote and they agree to undertake projects only if all four agree to proceed. This rationale balanced decision-making process means only sound, logical projects proceed complete with proper financial support. First commercial project is completed.

1951

In July 1951, they are asked by a client to complete a luxury home project. The brothers accept the challenge and exceed the client’s expectations. He enthusiastically refers the brothers to other potential customers. Schickedanz Brothers is born.
